We are all about quick, easy, and delicious snacks here at Country Homes. Pickles are one of our favorite snack options as there are so many ways to enjoy them! We were recently featured in The New York Times and they love pickles too! Pickle really is a summer's big flavor and we are so excited to share three of our favorite pickle treats with you!
Chilled Dill Pickle Mix
Our Chilled Dill Pickle Mix is a favorite of many and makes for the perfect summer snack. Veggie lovers will absolutely adore this treat. All you need to make it is one packet of our chilled dill pickle mix, fresh, cut-up veggies, 3 cups of vinegar, 2 cups of water, and ¼ cup of sugar.
Just like all of our recipes, this one is also extremely easy to make. All you have to do is fill up a 1-gallon container with cut-up veggies. Then, pour in your dill pickle mix packet, then add in your sugar, vinegar, and top it all off with water. At this point you want all of your vegetables to be fully covered with the liquid. Stir the veggies around to make sure everything is mixed properly. Cover your container and put it in the fridge for ideally 5 to 7 days, the longer it sits the more flavor it will have.
Enjoy eating your cold delicious pickle flavor veggies on a hot summer day! This makes for a perfect snack by itself, or an excellent side for your summer meals. Try it out!
IceBox Pickle Mix
Our IceBox Pickle Mix is very similar to our Chilled Dill Pickle Mix and another favorite of ours. This one is especially good for those wanting less of a dill flavor, but still want to enjoy a pickle-flavored summer treat.
To make this all you will need is one packet of our IceBox Pickle Mix, 6 large cucumbers, 3 medium onions, 3 cups of sugar, 3 cups of white vinegar, and 1-½ cups of water. First, prepare your veggies, being sure to cut them up. Then, take a 1-gallon container and add in sugar, vinegar, and icebox pickle mix. Mix all of these ingredients together and then add in your cut-up veggies. Add up to 1-½ cups of water at the most, making sure the veggies are fully covered. Finally, stir the veggies around in the mixture and place them in the fridge for at least 24 hours.
This go-to snack can last anywhere from 6 to 9 months when properly refrigerated. The recipe can also be altered to be more or less sweet, depending on what you like best. Are you more of a celery or carrot person? You can add those in too! Any crisp veggies will work perfectly. You will love this refreshing treat!
Dill Pickle Dip Mix
Our Dill Pickle Dip Mix is the ultimate summer dip, perfect for days at the pool or a picnic outside. All you need to make this yummy dip is one packet of our Dill Pickle Dip Mix, 1-½ cups of sour cream, and ½ cup of mayonnaise.
All you have to do is thoroughly combine these three ingredients together and there you have it! This dip is best served chilled and can be enjoyed with veggies such as carrots or cucumbers, or even chips and crackers.
